When we moved back to Mo we were church hoppers...one church that we would frequent was a small Baptist church in Indep. The draw there was a local tattoo artist that taught a Sunday school class. The man is an amazing teacher/speaker. The church wasn't a fit for us as a whole, but still love this guy and plan on asking him to come speak at our small group in the near future. Check this out though, the local news did a story on him and there is also a short video that gives a quick over view of his story.

dear throat, what have I ever done to you??

I have seriously been sick for a month now. a MONTH! i really cant believe it. I now just have a very painful throat. i just drank some tea made up of 3tbsp apple cider vinegar, 3tbsp raw honey mixed in hot water. i guess the apple cider vinegar is supposed to kill bacteria and soothe. i could not get the whole cup of tea down and so far have felt little relief. all I want to do is lay on the couch and watch My So Called Life. but i have so much to do! we are having a thanksgiving dinner with our small group tomorrow night.

I just want to lay and watch a movie....(pride and prejudice thanks to a tweet from a certain lj user who is to remain nameless. *coughJENNYcough*

someone is coming to possibly purchase our van today...why you may ask? because it looks like this:

while driving out to my moms on the 4th (for sydney/my moms bday) the truck in front of me stopped quickly to avoid the car in front of him who had stopped quickly (for no apparent reason....in fact, they continued to drive a few secs after stopping) so, i hit the truck. There was no damage to the truck, just to the van. It would cost about $1200 just to make it driveable, and about 4k to make it look like new. We couldn't afford either option so we have just been a one car family for the past couple of weeks (one car, mind you, that doesn't fit our whole family). While on our trip to CA (actually on my bday) my dad called and said that during prayer requests at sunday school he had asked for prayer for our vehichle situation. Within the week someone from his class called him and offered to give us a van! Seriously? Seriously! How awesome is that? so, saterday we bacame the proud new owners of a 1998 fullsize Ford van. I took it to get inspected yesterday and all it needed was a new brake light bulb. wow.

I am going on week 4, i think, of the sickness. boo. im so tired of it. i feel all puffy today. I really dont have time right now to be sick.

Wow. I haven't been on here for awhile. I have been working on a pretty big order for a natural parenting store in Lincoln, NE. The order is over 100 items and I have about 2wks to finish. I just received two bolts of new fabric both from Erin McMorris that I am more than excited to get to work with.

Pretty much everyone is the house is sick. I am bummed because I haven't been able to donate plasma this week due to being down with the sickness. That means I am out $60 that really could have helped us out a lot.

In other news our family will be heading to CA to visit Christians mom and grandparents. I am kind of excited, but really I have a lot of anxiety about the whole deal. I have never been to northern (and we are talking northern here folks...we fly into Sacramento and will then drive 3hrs north to Redding and the surrounding area) CA and have heard it is very pretty.

I have been kind of hunting around trying to get some ideas for Christmas...I have taken the Handmade Pledge once again (well, when I took it last year I was looking at it for the rest of my life...kinda like marriage hahah) so I have been looking for inspirations on the web...I just happened to stumble on this awesome site! Its great for the whole family! If I were buying any gifts I would buy a few things here! I loved these...

I am also a huge fan of vinyl wall decalls and they have some awesome ones...

So, seeing as how Christian can make these at work I will be having some vinyl fun for sure! He actually made one for Sydneys room after we painted it last year.

We are now in the process of planning my moms and Sydneys birthday party. They share a birthday which just happens to fall on election day this year. So what better way to spend election day then by having a weenie roast with our family and friends? I cant really think of anything better.

Not only do I have awesome taste in movies...I also have a few tv shows I love love love

These are pretty much the only shows I really really like to watch...I of course, cant afford showtime/HBO so I wait and rent Weeds and Big Love a whole season at a time. Criminal Minds is actually the only show we can receive on our tv. So, I still haven't had the time to sit and watch last nights episode of the office online. There you have it.

Even though I am sure this is just a form letter that her secretary punched my name into, its nice to at least know that you have been heard. I wrote both senators the day that this issue aired on Oprah and have only heard back from her...

This law takes a vital step towards strengthening and improving our nation’s sexual offender registration and notification process. It created a national sex offender registry with uniform standards to the registration of sex offenders, including a lifetime registration requirement for serious offenders, and it establishes strong federal penalties for sex offenders who fail to register. I was also pleased that the Senate recently passed legislation that I support, S. 1738, that will require the Attorney General to create and implement a National Strategy for Child Exploitation and Prevention, establish a National Internet Crimes Against Children task Force, create an Internet database for crimes against children, and stiffen penalties for child exploitation, among other things. In a funk…

I have been in kind of a creative rut as of late. Actually, that is not entirely true. I have a million and 3 ideas rolling around in my head, but have had no drive to complete said ideas. Yesterday I got up and decided I needed to get out of the funk and do some sewing. So, I pulled out one of my favorite pattern books for Miss Sydney and set to work tracing patterns…

I traced and cut out patterns for a dress, a coat, and a shirt. Once I get into it I cant stop. I sat down and quickly made the dress for her. I really wanted to make the coat but the kids started waking up from their naps.

Forcing myself into the sewing room really helped my state of mind. I woke up this morning and got got straight to work and made Isa are pair of pants out of an old tshirt and also made two bags. The bags still need a little tweaking, but overall I am very happy with the way turned out! Pictures to come soon.

I escaped from the house with my mom and sister tonight to pick of the last pieces of fabric I need to complete my package for the newest Bend The Rules Sewing Swap. I am so excited to get to work on this lap quilt! I cant wait to see what my partner sends me to work on for her!

I have always been somewhat of a snob when it comes to picture quality. I have to say though, that Dustin Steller, of Steller Photography, has done a great service to mankind.

Check these bad boys out!! He has these 3 that are down loadable for FREEEEEEE! Then, he has a set of 50 presets for Lightroom that he sells for a mere $40. I am serious folks, you cant beat that with a stick. I cant imagine not using these on my photographs!
